Description:The Finance Team Leader plays a pivotal role in guiding and overseeing the accounting team to ensure the integrity of financial records and the accuracy of reporting across the organization. This role combines leadership and management responsibilities with a focus on financial operations. The Team leader will supervise accounting activities across multiple entities, support monthly and year-end closing processes, ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements, mentor team members, and drive continuous process improvements within the Finance function.
Main tasks and responsibilities
General Accounting s Financial CloseSupport timely and accurate month-end and year-end close activities across all legal entities.Preparation of internal financial statements and reporting packages.Ensure accounting treatment aligns with applicable standards (e.g., IFRS) and company policy.Review and approve significant or complex transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies.Monitor intercompany transactions and balances, ensuring proper recording and reconciliation.Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring accurate, timely processing of invoices and payments, compliance with policies and regulations, and effective management of vendor relationships.Regulatory Tax ComplianceEnsure accurate VAT treatment and compliance with applicable tax regulations across jurisdictions.Support tax audits, providing required documentation and explanations.Process Enhancement Team Collaboration Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process optimization across accounts payable and general accounting workflows.Lead or support system upgrades and ERP improvements, including user acceptance testing and providing actionable feedback.Serve as a subject matter expert on accounts payable and financial operations, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.Collaborate effectively with Procurement, Treasury, Tax, and other departments to ensure seamless financial processes and alignment across functions.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is a plus.Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team leader role.Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS preferred) and financial reporting practices.Proven experience with ERP systems and accounts payable automation tools.Solid knowledge of applicable tax regulations and financial compliance requirements.Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and reporting.Experience in a multi-entity, cross-border accounting environment is preferred.Previous experience in a Big Four accounting firm or a large institutional organization is essential.
