Position Summary The Payroll Supervisor oversees day-to-day payroll operations and supervises payroll specialists responsible for company driver payroll and lease settlement processing. This role is responsible for workflow coordination, first level decision making, and issue resolution to ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely. The Payroll Supervisor is accountable for payroll execution performed by the team and serves as the primary point of contact for payroll related issues. The Payroll Supervisor supports the Senior Manager of Payroll and escalates complex, high risk, or non-standard issues as appropriate.
Essential Job FunctionsSupervise payroll specialists responsible for company driver payroll and lease settlement processing and manage daily payroll workflow to ensure deadlines are metOwn coordination of payroll processing activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll cyclesReview payroll calculations, adjustments, and settlements prior to payroll submissionInvestigate and resolve payroll discrepancies within defined scopeServe as primary point of contact for payroll issues and determine appropriate resolution or escalationEnsure adherence to payroll policies, procedures, and deadlinesEnforce payroll accuracy standards across the payroll teamProvide training, coaching, and operational guidance to payroll staffSupport payroll reporting and compliance monitoring activitiesAssist with payroll process improvements and automation initiativesServe as operational backup for the Senior Manager of PayrollPerform other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Payroll
Minimum Qualifications for ConsiderationHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredMinimum of 4 to 6 years of payroll processing experience, including experience in high-volume or operational payroll environments1 to 2 years of leadership or lead payroll experience preferredExperience with Paycom payroll and HRIS system requiredTransportation or trucking industry payroll experience highly preferred
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of payroll laws, taxation, and wage and hour complianceStrong leadership, communication, and team management skillsExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with ability to validate and reconcile payroll dataDemonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretionEffective problem solving and analytical capabilitiesExperience working with third party vendors such as Comdata, JP Morgan, and other payroll related providersAbility to partner effectively with HR, Accounting, and Operations teams
Physical Requirements:• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
Working Conditions:• Standard office environment with normal business hours. • Occasional extended hours during payroll processing cycles or year-end activities.
