What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)

Assist with patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, accompanying patients, and collecting patient history Manage clerical tasks such as obtaining medical records, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance coverage Maintain a clean and safe environment by cleaning exam rooms and managing supplies Support clinical medical assisting responsibilities such as checking vital signs, performing EKGs, and assisting with minor procedures Adhere to organizational protocols and promote patient rights while responding to emergencies

What Is Required (Qualifications)

High school diploma or GED Medical assistant diploma from an accredited institution or relevant community college course Minimum one year of recent experience in a medical facility or documented externship Current experience with electrocardiograms (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, and injections Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various forms of instructions

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

Certification indicating passing grade for specialty exams, such as pediatric medical assistant Experience in a multi-clinic or specialty office setting Familiarity with computer information systems relevant to healthcare Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and laboratory procedures Strong communication and interpersonal skills
