About This Role
On-site at Alpha School locations: New York City, NY Orange County (Lake Forest), CA San Francisco, CA Santa Barbara, CA$150,000/year compensation, distributed weekly. Full health benefits from day one.Relocation assistance provided
You've reached the top of a brutally competitive arena. Perhaps elite-level sports, a distinguished degree from a top-tier university, a position at a highly selective institution, or a business you launched and grew. You understand what separates simply participating from genuinely competing. Now consider channeling that drive into a setting with K-12 students who've never encountered someone of your caliber—someone ready to push them toward standards they didn't believe they could meet.
Alpha leverages AI-driven 1:1 instruction, allowing students to complete core academics in roughly two hours daily. The remaining time is devoted to life skills, passion projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments define excellence: someone capable of reading dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and doubt.
Your role isn't to instruct; it's to coach, challenge, and uphold the same exacting standard you've maintained for yourself. You'll invest 80% of your time conducting direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching, plus life-skills workshops. The remaining 20% is dedicated to establishing daily tone: purposeful morning sessions that create a culture where mediocrity has no place.
The trajectory here isn't about ascending into management. It's about going deeper. You begin by mastering Alpha's methods and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person they rely on to push them beyond perceived limits. The payoff isn't a title change. It's witnessing a student who struggled with eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to adults in May.
If you've been seeking a way to leverage your elite background for impact beyond your own credentials, apply now. If you require a scripted curriculum, a conventional classroom structure, or advancement into administrative roles, this isn't the right fit.
What You Will Be Doing
Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching that identifies individual obstacles, establishes ambitious targets, and ensures students follow through with accountabilityLeading structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than entertainment, drawing on authentic stories from your own elite backgroundEvaluating student mastery using platforms like Test2Pass and monitoring progress through Coachbot analytics to refine coaching approaches dynamicallyEstablishing cultural expectations each morning with focused kickoffs that uphold high-performance standards campus-wideCultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and families by maintaining high standards, consistency, and documented motivation strategies
What You Won’t Be Doing
Creating lesson plans, building curriculum, or evaluating assignments. Alpha's academic structure manages that independently.Presenting lectures to 30-student classrooms. Your focus is intensive coaching in small groups, not whole-class instruction.Overseeing other personnel or pursuing an administrative career path. This position centers on direct student outcomes, not organizational management.Attending faculty meetings or dealing with institutional bureaucracy. Your time remains concentrated on students.Compromising standards to meet quotas. If a student achieves 99%, your task is determining what prevented them from reaching 100%.
